IA Section Communications Exercise October 2018

PREPARING LOCAL HAMS TO ASSIST COMMUNITIES ‘WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS’

Tuesday Oct 23 – Friday October 26, 2018 IA Section amateur radio operators have the opportunity to participate in MARS COMEX 18-4. This communications exercise between Army/Air Force MARS and local hams focuses on timely and factual accounts of local conditions.

  • Wednesday Oct 24 at 0001 UTC (Tuesday Oct 23 at 7:01 pm CDT) All hams asked to monitor high power broadcast bulletin on 5MHz Channel 1 (5330.5 Khz USB). Reception report requested at: http://www.dodmars.org/home/60-meter-reception-report
  • Thursday Oct 25 and Friday October 26 (All day, ending 6:59pm Friday) All hams asked to provide a County Condition Report (CCR) on 5MHz Channels 1-5 (IA hams try Channel 5 first); Listen and respond to MARS operators. You will report: County name, Zip Code, Actual current county Infrastructure Conditions.
